One of the very first storybooks I received in my childhood was an anthology of legends from Greek mythology. Every night before falling asleep, I was fascinated by the pages covered with fantastic illustrations of the adventures of intrepid heroes, nymphs with multiple talents and monstrous creatures. While some children might have been terrorized by these stories, I devoured them with star-filled eyes, then sank peacefully and with delight into Morpheus' arms. One of the stories that marked me the most was the one of Theseus, not for his bravery in facing the terrible Minotaur, but for the resourcefulness of his betrothed, Ariadne.

Ariadne is the indispensable guide that allowed Theseus’ quest to be successful. Thanks to the questions she asked Daedalus, the architect of the fiercely guarded labyrinth, she found the solution to the the Athenian hero’s problem : he would unwind the thread of a ball of wool to retrace his steps thereafter. Ariadne is for me the first incarnation of the central role that a coach can play in your life.
