'Twas the Night Before Coaching

With the holiday season, I found myself inspired by a classic—with a little help from my AI friend! Together, we brewed up this playful twist on a festive favorite, blending the rhythm of the season with a gentle reminder for all leaders to pause, reflect, and reconnect. So, with a wink and a dash of holiday cheer, here’s my poetic creation for you…

'Twas the Night Before Coaching

'Twas the eve of reflection, and all through the room,

Not a person was stirring, not even on Zoom.

The journals were laid on the table with care,

In hopes that fresh insights would soon surface there.

The leaders were nestled, their thoughts running deep,

Dreaming of strategies and goals they must keep.

Their planners lay open, their pens by their side,

Yet moments of stillness were hard to abide.

When out in the garden there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my musings to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew in a dash,

Hoping the calm hadn’t turned to a clash.

The moon on the snow gave a glow to the night,

Revealing a figure, serene and alight.

With a presence so calming and questions so clear,

I knew in an instant a coach had appeared.

More curious than hurried, I opened the door,

As wisdom and guidance began to pour.

“Now breathe! Now center! Now, pause and reset! Your path will be clearer; it’s not over yet! To the heart of your values! To the top of your aim! This season is more than a productivity game!”

As snowflakes that dance on a crisp winter breeze,

The questions they landed, intending to tease.

So inward we turned, exploring with care,

What visions and dreams had been left unaware.

And then, in a moment, the coach took her leave,

But not before planting new goals to achieve.

“Resilience,” she whispered, “is found in the pause; Great leaders remember their purpose and cause.”

She was wrapped not in red but a scarf full of cheer,

Her eyes held a kindness that calmed every fear.

With words that inspired, she vanished from sight,

Leaving behind tools to guide through the night.

She spoke of the season, a chance to be whole,

To nurture the heart, the team, and the soul.

“To lead well,” she said, “you must take time to rest; For reflection and balance bring out your best.”

And I heard her exclaim as she walked out of sight,

“Happy Coaching to all, and to all a good night!”

Happy Holidays!
